His love for hip-hop drastically grew in the year 2000. Always fascinated by the art that dj’s executed on the 2 turntables and listening to mix show dj’s on Power 106 FM inspired DJ Fuze to buy some tables and instantly attempt to mix. Nothing came easy for him for he was clueless as to what equipment to purchase and never had a “real” mentor/teacher. His only “teacher” was the radio.
Fuze is extremely proud of all his accomplishments as a dj. “Dj’ing is not just a hobby I have on the side,” Fuze explains, “it is a huge part of my life, it is my passion.” He began spinning at parties all over Southern California but it wasn’t until 2005 that his career took a very positive outlook. He met a couple of local dj’s with whom he began a network of DJ’s in the city of Santa Ana, California. Scratch This Promotions Dj Crew (STP) was reborn in the summer of 2005 and Fuze and his crew members wasted no time and began pushing mixtapes. Their Volume 1 Mixtape has reached regions throughout the country. The year 2006 was even bigger for Fuze! In early 2006, Big Boy’s Neighborhood hosted a dj battle called “Mixer Idol,” where Fuze came in first place out of hundreds of contestants winning himself $2,000 worth of Guitar Center dj gear and a 1-hour guest spot on Power 106 Fm Los Angeles. “Power 106 Mixer Idol was a huge accomplishment and earning a chance to mix live on air with Big Syphe & Eric D-lux was a dream come true!” expressed Fuze.
After a year of turning in demos he finally got the golden opportunity to prove himself on air during Power 106’s 12 Days of MixMas (Dec. 2007). Since then, Fuze has been consistently on air on weekends and earned himself the title of Power 106 Mixer on Nov. of ’08. “This is a goal I have been wanting to accomplish since I began dj’ing. My dream has definitely come true! Shout out to the entire Power 106 family!”
